The doctor was eventually released, and began conducting many experiments testing his new water theory. He found that many physical conditions were improved simply by having his patients drink more water. He came to the conclusion that many ailments were merely a result of dehydration. This doctor eventually wrote a very well known book about his theory, findings, and recommendations. In case you haven’t already figured it out, the doctor’s name is Fereydoon Batmanghelidj and his book is called Your Body's Many Cries for Water.
The good doctor explains that the reason for many bodily ailments is because the cells in your body are chronically dehydrated. The act of rehydrating these cells can cure almost any ailment no matter where, and how, it manifests in the body. Some of the curable ailments that the doctor noticed during his studies include allergies, asthma, lupus, arthritis, back pain, ulcers, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many more!

Therefore, make the effort to drink more water right away. You have no excuse, water is free and it is very easy to drink. Sure, you’ll have to get into the habit of drinking it more often, and let’s not forget the disadvantage of having to use the bathroom more, but it is well worth it. All that water will hydrate your cells and flush your system of toxins and impurities. One thing you may be asking yourself is whether or not you can add flavoring to your water, or drink other beverages. After all, if your body’s cells are dehydrated, can’t you simply rehydrate them with any drinkable liquid?
Unfortunately, you can’t. Water is the only liquid that counts as a hydrating beverage. Other beverages contain too many additives and are not easily absorbed into the body. In addition, many other beverages contain chemicals that have a different effect on the body. For example: caffeine and alcohol can both dehydrate the body. Soft drinks or energy drinks that contain sugar and high fructose corn syrup can weaken the immune system. Even drinks such and juice, milk, and tea do not have the miraculous ability to rehydrate your cells.

So how much water should you drink?
Dr. Batmanghelidj recommends that you should drink one fluid ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight. Therefore, if you weigh 150 pounds then you need to drink 75 ounces of water, or slightly more than a half-gallon each day. That is a lot of water! This can be a daunting amount, and it can be very difficult to keep track of your water intake. However, you can simply get a water bottle that has measurements on the side. Something like a blender bottle or a Nalgene would be great. This way, you can see how much water you are really drinking in a day.

Of course, if you don’t want to do all of your drinking out of a water bottle then here is a nice little schedule that can help you make sure you are drinking enough water each day.
Two glasses when you wake up.
Two glasses a half hour before meals
One glass two hours after a meal
Add additional glasses as needed.
For most people, this list would total eight to ten glasses of water a day. If each glass is eight ounces that means that, if you follow the schedule, you should be drinking anywhere from 80 to 100 ounces a day, which is an excellent amount. And if you are someone who weighs well over 200 pounds, then drinking at least 100 ounces of water a day will be an excellent way to help you lose some weight. Think about how water fills your stomach, which, in turn, will curb your appetite. Thus helping you to burn fat and get in shape.

One thing to be aware of is that you most likely won’t see improvements right away. If your cells are truly chronically dehydrated, then it can take a month or so before they begin to absorb water at the normal rate once again. Once they begin to absorb, and hold, water you will begin to notice improvements as long as you continue to drink plenty of water. In an effort to help your cells absorb more water, add a pinch of either Celtic Sea Salt or Himalayan Sea Salt to each glass of water. A friend who is a fitness guy told me that when I pee, the colour should never be yellow. He said at least 2 litres of water minimum. For me, in the winter time its more difficult to drink so much water, since my body is not telling me to. In the summer, drinking 2 litres is easy.
Yes, that is true. It should be clear. It is difficult to keep it that way especially because drinking so much water causes many trips to the bathroom. However, over time, your body will get used to holding that amount of water. Thus, reducing your need to frequent the bathroom.

I read that book a few years back exclaiming the importance of drinking more #water. Still holds very true! Many, including myself, don’t get nearly as much as we need. 😒 one of my goals is o drink a gallon a day.
