Instantly boost your energy - The power of coffee naps!

in #health8 years ago

Today I want to share a really powerful life-hack with you guys. I am talking about coffee naps.

"Are you stupid? I take coffee to gain power, not to sleep" - You are probably thinking something like this at the moment.

But consuming coffee and powernapping actually goes along pretty well and can help each other. Let me explain how.

1. What does caffeine do?

When caffeine gets into your blood it changes your brain chemistry by blocking receptors normally filled by Adenosine, a molecule known for causing drowsiness. This way the effect of Adenosine declines and you feel more energy and focus (1).

Ok, I probably did not suprise you till now. But let's go on

2. What does sleeping do?

While sleeping Adenosine naturally gets removed - that is a part of how sleeping works (2).

Putting this together with the caffeine is awesome. Caffeine takes about 20 minutes before it becomes metabolized and available for your body.

So if you drink coffee and then do a 20 minute nap your body opens up those receptors and therefore strengthens the power of caffeine. Awesome, isn't it? But you also can do something wrong: Don't sleep much longer than 20 minutes (otherwise you may encounter sleep inertia)

However it does not really matter if you are a good napper. Half-sleep or just dozing helps as well. (3)

I hope I may have helped you to get more power in the future! I have one more important thing to share. The following link is about First Aid and Reanimation and everybody should know this. It is not a long read, promise. Just give it a shot. And if you like resteem and vote up (the money will be given to a rescue organisation!) Thank you!

You should! Let me know if it helped you :)

Thank you sir ;) Interesting post - even though I personally am against mariuhana if there is no medical point for yourself. What do you think about it? Would you make it legal?

there are many side effects of it and addiction is the most harmful.....if the benefit of the treatment outweigh the cost and side effect we should use it!!
but in a proper way!!

I am totally with you that it can be used as a medicine for some reasons ;)

Perfect, I love coffee and power-napping! Great post!

Nice :) Did you combine those two things before? Whats your experience?

Yes, well actually I noticed that I sleep well directly after drinking coffee, but I thought it's because of the warm drink in my stomach (like a hot chocolate for kids).

I also discovered that drinking a lot of coffee all day isn't helpful for sleeping :-)

If warm drinks make you nap better this is even a bonus :)

Yeah to much working caffeine is not good if you want to got to bed!

But drinking too little caffeine isn't good either, if you're an addict :-D It's hard to find the balance...
