Hi there. I've been away, so that is why I am just replying to you now. Thank you for your response. Yes, kyanite is very brittle! Very cool that you found a piece shaped like the wing of a crystal bird. Going out and looking for crystals and stones and other treasure with children is fun and creates great memories. My kids are teens now, but they both still have that spark in them to look for treasure. We were recently at the beach (we live in Tucson, so going to the beach is rare for us) and my kids looked for shells and stones and crabs... Simple pleasures! Thank you, again.
