Yes, the rodeo starts in late January or early Feb. I think. We left cause both of my parents lived here and I wanted to be closer to them. Both have since passed, but both of my Sisters are here too. Still Love Texas, but have a nice home here in rural Florida. Not far from the University of Florida. 🐓🐓
howdy this fine Tuesday @mother2chicks! hey how long ago did you move and have you been back? I was just wondering if things have changed alot in case you went back.
Moved here in 2005. Once a Texan always a Texan! Yes, been back and was surprised at the enormity of the freeways and the population explosion. Especially, busy from Fredricksburg to Austin and San Antonio. Wow! Now It makes me wonder how I lived there for 25 years. It was fun. 🐓🐓
howdy this evening @mother2chicks! well you might not like it there now unless you moved outside of town, couldn't pay me enough to live in or close to one of those big cities!
My sentiments exactly. I enjoyed a drive outside of the city, but it reached a point where it was nearly impossible to escape to the country. That’s when I said it’s too much. It was just more impetus to move on. Have you been in Texas your whole life? Or was it a choice decision? 🐓🐓
howdy today @mother2chicks! no Ma'am I grew up on a farm up by Dodge City, Kansas then later moved and lived in 4 or 5 different states. Don't tell anyone but we've only been here for 3 years, moved from Ohio. But I love the culture which is very similar to Southwest Kansas and I had been to Texas on many visits.
When we got here we immediately became Texans, worked with life-long Texans helping them to start a BBQ restaurant and we fully adopted to everything Texan and absorbed it. And of course I grew up in a cowboy culture in Kansas so that part was a natural for me.
Hi @janton, you could have fooled me. I thought you were a Texan through and through. Once in Texas the friendly folks kind of draw one into the fold. I actually grew up here, left and moved to Texas then back here again. What is the name of the bar b que restaurant you helped to open? A mom & pop kind of place or something bigger? You know what I really miss about Texas? You are going to laugh......kolaches. Yep empanadas too. Lol🐓🐓
