RE: Tenthredinidae - little yellow worm thing

Right, the heads are always somewhere else on a safe place. They are always one step in front of the police and I think corruption plays a role too.

In the first years we didn't even have a tv, but this was normal for us - just as normal as sadly the smartphones are normal for the kids today.

Sort:

So right about that my friend.

Yeah, no TV and still switchboard operators for old telephone calls.
As kids we were never allowed to touch the phone hahaha.
As a boy, I had to do my homework after school and then get out of the house until my mom returned for work.
The poor woman was the hardest worker that I have ever seen. Had her mother and 3 children to support alone.
Tough times indeed.

Cheers and thank you!

Your childhood was a few years before mine, so we didn't have operators anymore ;) lol

If a mother would get paid what she deserves she'd earn much more than any man, especially single mothers are great, also nowadays.
But I think in the old times when you were a kid it has been even harder for women without a man to survive and raise the kids to become good adults ;)

Yes indeed, Rita (my mom) at times worked double shifts at the printing company where she worked.
She was the youngest woman in the country to become a printing foreman.

Yet, she was paid 50% less than the male foremen. And she had no say in it, as that was the way it was at the time. Many nights I had to hear her cry in her bed, and I will always remember it. There was no government assistance. My gran earned a small pension, which also helped a little bit; but my mother taught all of us, how to make things in life on our own. She was indeed a heroic person, never asked anyone for anything...and just did her own thing.

We were not treated well as children by the neighbours, as my mom was a good looking divorcee, and the women were scared that their husbands would try to go for my mom. So they didn't want their children to play with us, or to have anything to do with us. Just the way things worked out.

Cheers, and thank you.

You can be really proud to have had such a mother who brought you up to be the good person you are today.

I think most women still work more (work and at home) and earn less than men do.
Times were different back then, but some things haven't changed that much I think. If a beautiful woman would move to the small village I come from, then I am sure all other women would have more than only one eye on her to see if she is smiling to one of their men ;) lol

Oh yes, she was and still is my hero Sir Johan,
She was a very strict mother and nilly about cleanliness. I used to cringe whe she grabbed me in the bath with a hard bristle brush to scrub me.
But today I know that she did it for our own good.

The case of women have made some improvements on the business front, but it is true that men stll lead, which I deem to be unfair aldo in the case of a woman doing the same job as a man.
Many woman CEO's nowadays as in my mom's time there were none.

I agree with you as far as the beauty issue is concerned, there will always be insecurity and strife.
None of their husbands were allowed to help my mom or us with anything and I if they had to walk past our house, they had to walk on the opposite side of the road hahaha.

A few of the married guys tried their luck with my mom when they saw her in the shops without their wives, but she put them cold very quickly lol.

Cheers and thank you!

I hated my parents sometimes how they treated me, but now I know that they loved me and they did everything right.
As said, you can be proud to have had such a woman as mom, and you are, of course.

Cheers and !BEER

You know, my kids said the same thing to me after they married and had children.
We are not perfect parents, but we try our best even in the tough times and just have to remain to be an anchor for them.

Now that they are far away from me, the less calls that I get from them, the happier I am because I know that they are making their own ways in life. Now and then when they are troubled by something difficult, I am the first one that they call.

This is as it should be according to me.

Yes, my mom was and continues to be my hero.

Cheers and thank you!
