A few days ago, I captured this scene , sad for one of the participant by the way ;-)
A black wasp captured an other insect and bring it to the nest inside a trunk of dead wood.

Note: Thanks you @akukamaruzzaman and @proto26 for your comments for notifying me on the name of this insect 😉

I suppose this will be the reserve to eat during the winter for it or for the queen ant.

It was not easy to take, I shot a lot of pictures in burst mode with my camera. The scene was very quick.

Sort:

Sphex pensylvanicus species). You can see the identification in this article.Hey @roozeec, it's not a flying ant, but the black wasp (

yes... I'm not an expert on insects ... as you saw... 😄😃
But with your comment and @proto26 one, I learn more on this, I will take care on next post 😀

I knew it!

That's a wasp. You can tell by the straight antennae (ants have them elbowed). The insect it captured is paralyzed and will serve as live food for its young.

For me, I don't think it is a wasp, the insect is about 3mm length, wasp are greater, no ? Or maybe it is part of a sub family of wasp

There are many, many types of wasps. Some are diminutive others are large (hornets). Some, especially the tiny kind, are parasitic.
