I don't know much about martial arts but with the little I know of martial arts consistent training not only conditions the mind and body to have strength and stamina to fight back in a violent situation but also helps the body stay flexible, strong and active as people age. It's also like a form of stress relief... So I feel it's needed for one to learn martial arts cause it comes with lots of advantages
