Habits are our repeated behavior that sometimes takes so much control over our minds that we lose control over ourselves. Some habits turn into addictions and this is when people lose their senses and judgement of mind.
Sometimes people get involved in substances like drugs or bad behaviors. In the beginning it may seems exciting but when that excitement leads to less self,values and identity. It turns life meaning.

To break any habit, the will must come from within.
You need to remember you are blessed with life and you need to make your life meaningful.
Avoid getting involved in anything that demands your integrity.
If you do find yourself caught up, seek help and make every effort to come out of it.

Getting some support and (if you need it) accountability from someone is definitely a big part of it from my experience.
I've had various levels and forms of addiction throughout life as I'm sure many have. The solution isn't always simple.
However, I've found that more often than not the steps you need to take are surprisingly simple.
1 example: It can be something as simple as asking a roommate or partner to call you out on things or help you buy less of something.
I believe sometimes the justification for addiction becomes subconscious, and having someone remind you that you're pursuing a certain goal or trying to stay under a limit can help a lot.
