Building Resilience Against Anxiety

in Emotions & Feelings12 hours ago

Blue Monday is deemed to be a time of the year when people are most depressed throughout the year, and there are several reasons why that is the case at this time of the year. One is because it's when most people have to resume back to work after having an exciting holiday season; another is due to the financial crisis due to the lack that follows overspending during the festive December and New Year celebrations; all of these put together can lead to anxiety, and if we aren't careful and knowledgeable on how to cope with it, it can lead to something else more disturbing.

You see, one thing I've come to find out about life is that there'll always be ups and downs, because nothing lasts forever. There are times you'll be excited and full of joy, and before you know it, the next minute you'll feel different and enthusiastic about things around you, which is a sign of anxiety, and which is a feeling of worries about financial challenges, fear of its dangers, uneasiness about upcoming events such as resumption and the likes, So given the fact that it's normal that everyone experiences these emotions, it doesn't mean everyone has the ability to deal with it without letting it consume them, and that's why in this article, I'll be sharing how I cope and deal with anxiety.

On most occasions when I began to develop anxiety, some of it effective on me is restlessness; I'll just find myself thinking about what's bothering me over and over again, and that goes on to lead to distraction for me, meaning I'll have difficulty concentrating on other things I'm doing, since my mind finds a way to continually get worried about the situation on the ground, which can lead to fatigue, sleeplessness, and the likes. I can even be far worse if such is allowed to continue without taking valid steps to curb the emotions, and how I do that is stated below.

First on the list is that I usually try as much as possible to find against it within me, but immediately challenging negative thoughts that come to my mind, one thing about anxiety is that it first starts in the mind and takes root there before springing forth, so it challenges those parts that can affect my state. One way I quickly deal with anxiety is by practicing mindfulness; I try as much as possible to look towards the positives around me and not let negative ones pull me into the den of anxiety.

So by staying calm and meditating on things that bring me happiness, both in the past and the likes, I'm able to flush out the negativity that's getting me worried and afraid and into the captivity of anxiety. Also, avoiding anything that overuses me or gets me stressed, I've come to notice that when I'm stressed, I become more worried and negative, though usually I utilize that opportunity to come in, so I try to manage my time and activities judiciously.

Lastly for me, in coping with anxiety, is staying with friends, kids, and people with positive energy, these people who can be my close friends or family usually come through for me in tough times and help me out in all possible ways to make sure I'm back on my feet and in the right state of mind to forge through life again.

Thoughts can be as powerful as we allow them to be, situations may not be as bad or terrible as we think but anxiety comes and fills us with intrusive thoughts, we must know what we must do to stay calm and be able to have a full life, when we can not control it because many times it happens that way is when we must ask for help and talk to someone we trust or seek the help of a professional who knows how to help us improve in those processes so human and sometimes difficult to understand. I enjoyed reading you, a hug 🤗

That's absolutely correct, our thoughts goes a long day in determining our emotions and that's why it's best to find away to maintain a positive mindset, even if it involves seeking professional help like you said.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.🤗

The mind is a powerful tool that can be tamed against breeding anxiety. When this is possible, we may live above it.
On the other hand, I feel like anxiety is a natural phenomenon. It is a prove that we desire something or afraid of another.
People who do not get anxious may be seen as carefree. It is not a crime to be anxious, only that we should not get worn out in the process.

Yea you're absolutely correct, it's comes naturally based on things happening around us or about to happen.

But with a victory over our mind, it'll be easy to sail through..

Thanks for sharing.
