Around here, we call it "starting the Black Hole Clock" when we start looking for something put in "a perfectly reasonable and safe place" to use later... and we have no idea where it actually is.

I've not heard that one before. Very apt. I looked everywhere I could think of and some places where I knew it was not going to be but still didn't find it. Seems like it really has disappeared down a black hole.
