Life has a habit of throwing unexpected curve balls into the ordered daily routines of people's lives. Totally out of the blue happenings tend to knock people's socks off as they grapple with what has come from left field. Maybe it sounds familiar to you?
How well and how timely do we as individuals accept and move onto planning and coping with these unforeseen situation? Of course there is no set time as we progress from the accepting stage to action. It is all so indiviudal! But, of course the sooner one works through acceptance the quicker inner calm is reached which hopefully leads to positive self talk, emotions and attitudes.
Whatever works for you, whether it is dealing with it in the most rational way using psychology strategies or simply asking the universe what it is trying to teach you, we all perceive and deal with change as best we can.
Are any of us exempt from curve balls and unexpected happenings big and small? My answer is no. How many do we get in a lifetime? Maybe some individuals have more unforeseen occurrences than others. Does it depend on how well we learn each lesson to do with change?
Getting too comfortable is perhaps a red flag that a life upset is coming your way. Or perhaps not, I made that up! But it is something to think about.
My leave of absence from Hive over the last 10 weeks was due to my husband having to received medical treatment at one of the large hospitals in Brisbane. Feeling blessed that it was not a life threatening problem, more one that needed 40 sessions of healing. But, it meant living in Brisbane away from my retirement beach home during the week and driving home for the weekend to recoup and prepare for the next week.
While it was hectic and seemed to take forever on reflection it did not. The weeks went in a flash, an experience that has enhanced my life. My experiences confirm that we are never too old for curve balls and learning lessons. So I am guessing more are coming.
It was 10 weeks of adventure, exploring and meeting highly interesting people all of whom shared entertaining and memorable stories over many cups of coffee.
I found good coffee in the most unusual creative places as I walked and explored the surrounding streets around the hospital. One being this cute little coffee caravan.
I am very thankful to be back writing on Hive and reading as many posts as I can.
Sending everyone a big hello.
Angie Mitchell
Hope that your husband is making good progress. We just have to accept that life is full of ups and downs and anything unexpected can happen anytime.
Hi @positivesteem, yes absolutely the only way to go is acceptance. I was in a reflective philosophical mood of thought.
Oh Angie I'm sorry your hubs hasn't been well. Is he on the mend? One step at a time and trying to focus on what can be done and hope and the positive rather than letting your mind focus on the worst is something I learnt off my Mum and Dad. I'm not as good at it as they are!!! Nice to see you. 💚
I so agree with your words @riverflows, looking on the bright side is what I did to get through some of my little downers. Thank goodness for mums and dads, they teach us so much.
And so nice to be back, I really love the chatting.💜
I wondered what happened to you @angiemitchell, glad you're back and that hubby is ok!
I love those coffee shops 'on-the-move', they're always so quaint and serve the best coffees.
Look forward to seeing you more often 😀
This van served the best coffee too @lizelle and so worth the little walk down the road. I did a lot of working intermixed with sitting in the Hospital coffee shop people watching. I learned that so many people in many different shapes and ages go to the hospital. I said many prayers for them all.
I love being back and thank you for your lovely words. 🙏
I wondered where you had been! All the best for you and your husband
You definitely didn't make that up as I have thought about that as well :D might be a universal "rule"...
@tipu curate
There are so many wonderful universal rules so yes I agree with you. Maybe I am much cleverer than I think I am. I also believe that we continually receive messages from the universe through our intuition, we only need to tune in and listen.
indeed! :))

Thank you, I always appreciate a boost to my ego, writing skills and creativity.
Older we get, cranky things happen, sounds like hubby has completed round of treatments and now on the mend, hopefully back home now not having to journey into the city.
Learning at every turn never ends, glad you back, take care!

Thank you @joanstewart, very kind and gracious a gift.
Thank you @joanstewart, love your 'cranky' description. You are so right as there were a moment or two when I felt a tad cranky or put out. That is when I gave myself a reminder that lessons were to be learned!
I have to say it is fabulous to be in the home routine but I best be ready for any curve balls coming my way.😊
Curve balls appear to knock us around continuously, never knowing what is around the next corner.
Good you back home, time to catch your breath and ready oneself for the next, take care!
I love the little bits of wisdom that is flowing here, it is such an essential ingredient at our age.
Sometimes we are able to prop each other up perhaps having gone through something similar, life is strange, feels very different to what we knew growing up.
How everything has changed, even from when we were travelling in the 70's. I loved it when there were so fewer fellow travellers in Rome and Florence. Not now.
Agree we did travel at the right time, now everything has an entrance fee, and over crowded.
Hi, Angie:)
You are so right. No one is exempt from life's curve balls. Life itself is a great succession of changes, right?
Good to see you back here again. I hope your husband is well and that the treatment was successful for his health. I look forward to reading all those anecdotes you have from those weeks you were away from Hive.
Cheers 🤗
Hello lovely @coquicoin aka Silver Cat, my husband has healed really well and still healing. All good thank you. And yes, there were some adventures along the way of course and full of stories that I am happy to share a little here and there as long as it does not become too repetitive. 💝
I'm glad to hear your husband is healing well.
Have a lovely weekend, Angie 🤗
You too. Everyday flows at a great rate of knots, the speed is amazing. Grabbing onto the adventures is an essential. So today is definitely a Sunday walk on the surf beach across the road.
Enjoy your walk :)

Being Silvered is such a wonderful honour - thank you, it has made my day.
You are very welcome :)
So sorry to hear your husband, hope he's in the mend now.
I'd like to think as we grow older we can manage the unexpected better, after all we have all the experience behind us, there isn't that much we haven't seen or heard about or not expecting in life
How wise are your words @livinguktaiwan (Sassy Lut), growing older certainly has its advantages especially if we are clever enough to listen and learn. Whenever I might think that I have seen it all, the universe lets me know all too quickly that this is not the case. Hahaha.
So lovely to have you back dear Angie. 💕 life does throw us a surprise curve now and then. I’m happy your husband is on the mend and okay.
Thank you dear Jo, so lovely to be back. Good friends filled my mind when I opened up Hive again giving me the most pleasant feeling.
And I appreciate my husband all the more after our little sojourn.
