Hi all 👋🏻

Saturday 12 March 2022

Today (Sunday 13 March) I want to share with you my First ever AVE train ride, it’s a Long Distance High Speed Train.
We went from home by car to Málaga city’s train station Maria Zambrano, with the AVE to Madrid, the capital from Spain. Never been in a high speed train before 😎 It was unique!

As some of you already may know… @mipiano and @silversaver888
I had to renew my passport and have to collect it tomorrow at the Dutch embassy here in Madrid.
So we thought… let’s make this trip into a long weekend away 😊 in own country 🇪🇸
Why not? 😁

This is our journey and experience with the Long Distance High Speed Train:

After we woke up very early yesterday, Saturday 12 March… it was still dark outside, we got out of our front door and pushed the first button of a long journey ahead.
This was for the elevator to come up, so we can go down.

We packed light, just one suitcase for the both of us. As we are back home Tuesday.

Next of course… put our suitcase into our car.

The start of our 1 hour drive towards Málaga city. 😊🚗

Along the way:

As you can see it slowly becomes light. The sun is rising 🌅

We do take the toll roads to have an easy journey to Málaga and not over the coast road as there are just tooooo many roundabouts and with a long journey the toll road is so much nicer. Also at this time in the morning.

Here you can see part of the Mediterranean Sea and the sunrise 🌅 beautiful pastel colours are showing.

Here it is getting a bit brighter and the colours of the sunrise are intensifying.

On the mountain of Fuengirola there are cable cars to go all the way up. To have the most amazing views…
I tried to capture these and the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea. I managed to get an angle just so that the bright sun was behind the signs. Otherwise this photo would not have been successful. 😎

After 1 hour drive we reach Málaga city and we parked our car at a friends place and went by taxi further to the train station. Maria Zambrano. These are the views we have while waiting on the taxi… it was rather cold and windy 🌬

After we went through the security and a check for our tickets, we walked towards our train.
Our tickets are for the first section in the train, so we have to walk all the way to the front of the train.

Time for me to make some photos 😊
This is the back of the AVE train.

The AVE front side part. As it is the same as the back, I show you the side.
Standing all ready to leave soon in about 10 minutes.
We will leave at 8:58 am.

The seats opposite of us. We have a table between them. Luckily for us nobody was booked the entire journey in for those seats. So we could spread out a little bit.
In the train we had to wear our masks as in the train station.

We are leaving… our journey will be 3 hours to Madrid with 5 stops along the way. This train can go as fast as 330 Km/h
I saw on the display we were traveling at 272 km/h as fastest speed… could have missed other ones as was not checking it all the time of course. But it is logical to me with all those stops that it would not reach the fastest travel speed.

Half an hour into our journey the world is getting darker and mist is appearing.

We just left Cordoba train Station.

More mist… we can’t see far out.

A little further, it is clearing up again. We are now 1,5 hour into our journey. Half way…

It also gets greener around us. 🥰

We pass by little stations, the rock formation there looked stunning. Tried to capture it the best.

We pass by this black iron tower.
It just is stunning and was towering all above the rest of the buildings.

More countrysides along the way.

Snowy mountains just above the industrial area, I could see it clearly but on the photo it shows not so good. But believe me the snowy mountains are there 😉

We are reaching Madrid now… I saw a castle and large monument just on top of that mountain. No idea which one it was.

We are getting closer to the train station, large buildings are appearing and some graffiti on the walls.

More large buildings and graffiti.

Just captured this building with its great architecture.

More train tracks are appearing, by now we drive rather slow… to enter the train station at a safe speed.

After we reach the station, we go up the stairs and have a view from above onto the tracks and trains.

We walk a bit… on these fast moving tracks. For ease. 😎

As we leave the train station at Madrid we see the following photos from the outside.

The building/ Train-station is just stunning.
Now we walk towards out hotel and check in as it was 12:15h. Let’s go for a cappuccino along the way first ☕️

We truly enjoyed our fast train journey with the AVE ~ long distance high speed train. We would go on it again anytime.
The seats were comfortable. (we did have the comfort seating and not the standard ones)
We thought we couldn’t take photographs out of the window when traveling over 200 Km/h but we could…

We are already looking forward to our journey back Tuesday. 😊

In the next days I will post our adventures in Madrid ☀️👋🏻😊😁

Hope you enjoyed looking through my photographs and reading my post about this journey I had last Saturday on the AVE.

Thank you so much for looking, and reading. And if you liked my post, an upvote or re-blog is always welcome 🙏🏻

Have a great day all 😎👋🏻

The AVE is absolutely amazing, I remember the first time I was on it, I was watching the speed go up and up!

It is amazing @tengolotodo 😎 today we go back 🚄😁

Awesome, have a fun and speedy trip back🚄🚊😁

Just boarded… 😁🚄

Thanks we will sure have. It’s a different AVE this time. With the flat nose…
We are leaving in 3 minutes. 🥳

330 km/h is really fast and is even faster than the bullet train in Japan which is probably the earliest and most famous of all. Even at 270+ is really fast, plus the carriages look really nice. Look forward to your return journey!

Yes, it is rather fast… it did make our long journey not to long. It was still pleasant with only 3 hour ride.
Yep, of course the Japan one is the most famous one and everybody has heard about it. I remember we talked about it in school long ago 😉

Thank you so much 😊

Thank you so much @smithykins 😊
It was so much fun and a great experience.

I hope I didn't do something wrong. What is down voting? My apologies if I have offended or made a mistake. If it's just disagreement that's perfectly fine. Just don't want to do anything wrong.

Sorry @smithykins, I don’t understand what you mean? I don’t see it on my post. Did you mean to post this somewhere else?

Downvoting is voting with negative. So you dislike something…

Oh, thank you. Not sure where I'm putting things. Very new to this and keep getting things wrong. Thank you for explaining. I'll look again and perhaps re post it.

You are welcome, have a look where you think it went wrong. You can change your downvotes into normal votes…
I know it wasn’t on anything from me. You can see your comments and replies from others in your profile.

Thank you @hivebuzz 😊 have a nice week too ☀️🐝

What wonderful photos of the train, the route, and the Atocha station.

There is a new community about trains named Train Spotting. Maybe you would like to take a look at it for your return to Malaga. ;)

I hope you are doing well in Madrid!

Thank you so much @coquicoin 😊

I will have a look and I could make a post about our journey back. As we also will sit on the other side. So new views to see. And probably another train. 🚄🚅 thank you for letting me know. Very helpful.

Madrid is such a great city, this was also my first visit to Madrid. It is so different here than the south of Spain. I truly could fall in love with the north.

We saw a lot in the last days, today is torrential rain and high winds. So we won’t go out a lot. But we still have tomorrow 😊👋🏻☕️

Madrid is so interesting, and there is so much to do.
I hope the weather improves, and you can enjoy the city. 😄

Thank you so much @coquicoin
Yes it truly is. Luckily the weather improved 1 hour ago… so we could go and explore a bit more 😎

Yay the AVE post came!!!

I want to try it one day too, and I see that the train station is indeed stunning. I didn't see it, as we went by car, and the things we visited in the centre we went on foot.

Enjoy the remaining days :)

Yeah… I made it, to post it today. I had to guest judge a contest from the StreetArt community. So we thought this afternoon after lots of walking and exploring. Let’s go for a rest back to the hotel. So I had a little rest and time for it.

We sure will, went today also to the large park. So beautiful… tomorrow morning we go to the embassy. It’s half an hour drive up towards the end / top of Madrid. (On a map)
After that we are free for the rest of the day.

Madrid is so beautiful, it has a real impact on us. We both like it and could visit again. It is quite busy though. You have to watch we’re you walk so many people… was it busy when you visited?

Yes, it was busy in January too. I think Madrid is always busy, no matter the season :)

Yes, looks like it is always busy here.

Today even more on the road. The taxi driver was telling as the weather was so bad. A lot of people decided to take the cars to go to work. So an interesting journey we had… 🚖🚖🚖🚖🚕🚕🚕🚕

Ow, so taxi - rain- Madrid - Monday , such a painful combination 😂

Yep… it was an interesting journey with lot of horns going off in cars all around… Toet toetttttt
Hahahaha 🤣

🚕🚕🚕 I can imagine.

I like big cities, live in one medium-large one for eight years and later I always wanted to go back to live in a big centre. Husb not a fan of them at all. But if I think better, moving around by car is not optimal there, because of the traffic jams and not easy to find a parking plot if you don't have a reserved one... I imagine I would be always late to work 😂
