Twists and Turns

Some say life begins at forty; the naughty forties they call it.

Perhaps it's because we're a little wiser, more self-assured, and no longer care what the world thinks of us. That magical age is winking when you finally get to say goodbye to the corporate world, and receive that golden handshake!

Some of us continue working, full- or part-time, while others start their own ventures and become self-employed.

Many seasoned Silver Bloggers now start playing when the youngsters are earning their keep.

No more traffic snarls, parkades that show the 'full' sign, noisy crowded malls, long queues...you know what I'm talking about!
That's when we used to go 'out on the town!'

I miss the spur-of-the-moment outings hubby and I used to take when our regular BnB guests were settled in.

I miss having him by my side when I go places.

Most of all I miss him.

But...I'm starting many sentences with a 'but' these days I am super blessed to have angels who take me under their wings and lift me up. Somehow intuitively knowing when to call.

Grief is a journey one has to walk on your own; it never goes away. One simply learns how to deal with it.

Seesawing is an apt description of what one's emotions goes through. How is it possible to be sobbing one minute, and belly-laugh a little later?

We all deal with grief in our own way; there is no right or wrong way, no sure recipe for success!

A friend seized the opportunity to treat me to Sushi when I had to take her to her eye specialist as she wasn't allowed to drive after the tests.

What a treat it turned into, not just because of the Sushi, which was super fresh and delicious, but also just to spend time with her, and chat about some deep stuff. We went from laughing to crying as she's still dealing with the loss of a child.

Life is so strange with all its twists and turns; brutally agonizing, but also wonderfully marvellous!

Awww, drukkies en liefde van ons af. Ek sal nooit vergeet hoe oom Arthur my gebel het en gevra het, "Do you have wheels?"

"Huh?"

"Do you have wheels?"

"No uncle Arthur, I don’t know what you mean."

"Well, you've got wheels now."

Liefde daar aan my Durban familie. Mis julle altyd

Ai Therneau, dis so tipies van hom, jy laat my sommer weer tjank, maar dis nodig. Hy wou die wereld n beter plek maak vir almal wat hy lief gehad het.
Bly dit het julle gehelp.
Ek sien uit na die dag wat ek oorstap. Moenie my verkeerd verstaan nie, ek geniet weer my lewe, maar weet ons sal weer herenig wees, in watter vorm ookal.
Liefde aan julle almal ♥️

Have a wonderful weekend 🤗Thank you @apanamamama, I'm blessed indeed having special friends. We understand the need for 'space' but are also there for each other.

What a beautiful moment, whichever way you look at it, friendship is a treasure, it helps us to deal with difficult times and also gives us joy and happiness, to nod that life is good.

Grief is definitely an unpredictable journey! I'm very glad to hear you have a support system of friends you can rely on. That makes all the difference in the world!

So true, a good support system is invaluable during difficult times.
Thank you also for being such a good friend from afar. Kind words bring great comfort!

You're welcome, Lizelle! I hope you have a good weekend!

I read you and my heart tightens, I am very sensitive these days and I don't even want to imagine missing you. Life is a box of surprises and learning to receive with wisdom whatever comes your way is a perennial lesson.

A hug right back to you <3Thank you for your wonderful message @charjaim.

I think when you laugh and cry you are releasing stress and it's part of grieving. Sincere friendship is a great support because you can unburden yourself and share what your heart feels. You are very lucky to have those friends who have never left you alone, but neither have you left them. Therein lies the value of friendship. Best regards.🤗🥰
