RE: Oh yes, I made it.

Oy, a far way to go yet. Try 300 essays every 3 month semester, 4 semesters per year.
You just have to work your time out and to find interesting and relaxing time during the slow periods.
Let's hope that the bakery project can be launched this year, as the equipment is ready and waiting.
That should give you something that you love to do during the slow time.

Yes certainly! Crossing all my fingers for the project.

No, I would die with so many students. I remember the ethics exams we talked about when we met up, there were I think 1200 booklets. It was an almost 1-meter-high stack of books. Luckily we were 5 people who marked. But I remember I needed to mark until 5 am the next morning because marks needed to be in at 9 am. It was crazy.

Hahaha, yes, that marking stint was very valuable, as it taught you what to avoid at all costs in the future. I am going to go and take fresh photos at Imibala to send to you, as the story of William being discovered as way above the normal level needs to be told.

Those stories must be told, you are right. It is amazing how when you give some of these students a bit of confidence and place them in the right framework they will flourish. I have seen it even with older students in my field. People just need the right conditions to flourish in. Obviously, finding out what the right conditions for each student/child are where the hard work lies.

You won't believe this, as I went to take photos of the art section on Thursday and then I forgot about it. Will send it to you soon my friend.
I think that it is personal interest and care that result in students blooming. Once that they feel the love and the trust, then they perform.

Sorry for only replying now (as you saw on whatsapp as well). What a week. I am tired as hell.

Yes, that is most important. That personal connection. It is just sad that lots of students do not want this at the tertiary level. Or, the students are too entitled to want it. Plus, from what I have seen this far, only a handful really seem interested in your own work. I put way too much effort into things and I am so tired now that I do not see how this way of doing things is sustainable in the long run hahah.

You should go and scratch in your garden, or go into nature, as that always helps me with tiredness.

Strange things that the academic route can create in students, as it removes all humbleness and replaces it with pride and ego. It is so amazing how academic achievements can change a person.

Once you get into that space, people are less humble because they build these facades of importance around themselves. In my case, it made me aware of how little I actually know and how much I still want to do. I want to do another Ph.D. to actually build my knowledge base, but the people in academia are drunk on their own egos.
