RE: Experiment. Getting Paid to Interact with Others!

in Silver Bloggers19 days ago

Great question, @minismallholding:

"I'm not sure what it takes to stick around here long term ..."

We can probably agree the answer will vary according to the person answering it. For me, after my 1st month of experiencing Hive, I can say it will be very important to keep the human interactions and the pretense of getting paid for them as distinctly separate as I can manage.

"I'm enjoying our conversations and look forward to your next instalment."

Ditto! Our conversation around the vitally important word community has been the highlight of my experience so far. It appears we are somewhat like minded. In saying that and following up by stating the obvious I guess, a key in what I have just finished writing about finding my niche will be dependent on developing similar contacts. You will read how I have chosen to characterize that. Written as I see it, knowing we are all different.

The unavoidable issue is the investment of time. And settling the key question of how much I will devote to this search here on the Hive blockchain. When I know for a fact that time could just as easily and arguably more profitably and productively invested in relationships with people in the real world.

For now, by again stating the obvious, the investment of my time is due to the fascination with having conversations like this one, with someone on the other side of our shrinking planet! 👋

"Thank you for placing value on my investment in time. I appreciate the thought whether it's monetary or not."

Happy to do that. This reinforces we are like-minded and I will continue to do my small part to foster conversations like this one, when I am online. They are genuine. Sadly, I do not personally find that to be the case, as a general rule, so far.

"I doubt Hive will ever give me much value monetarily to be able to make much difference with the cost of living as it is here in Australia, so I try to keep it on the blockchain to see if I can make some difference where it can help."

This sums it up quite well. Generating passive income streams seems a prudent use of anyone's time. Whether or not contributing to the Hive blockchain is a viable option for consideration is an open question. At least we can hope to make a little difference by whatever we are inspired to say.

Now on with my day and out into the sunlight! 🫡🤝

Interestingly some of the best conversations I've had on here are with people who are also of this mindset, like @roleerob (who hasn't been on for a few months) and @thebigsweed. We have a community over on discord of Australians who are connected via Hive, but I'm not as likely to see them here communicating as much any more.

They are genuine. Sadly, I do not personally find that to be the case, as a general rule, so far.

The genuine ones tend to take a bit of a step back after a while, which would explain this.

👋 😁
This is another aspect that keeps me here. I'll talk to my sister on occasion over in the UK, who has a PhD and works in the government sector. She might bring up things in conversation about what media is talking about in other countries (aka propaganda). I don't particularly watch or listen to it myself and I'm often surprised at how different what she's thinking is happening there is compared to what the people I'm talking to from those countries are saying. She usually goes very quiet when I give her their points of view.

Enjoy the sun. 🌞

This is helpful additional input to me, @minismallholding. My takeaway from it, in my search for my niche here on Hive is

'Good luck!" 😉

Hahaha ... Seriously, I think this captures it as well as anything:

"She might bring up things in conversation about what media is talking about in other countries (aka propaganda)."

The opportunity to watch and read what others choose to communicate directly is probably at the heart of the current appeal to me of participating on the Hive blockchain. Being as charitable as I can be, it bypasses any third party effort to tell me their version of what others are thinking.

The challenge?

Reading what others choose to communicate directly seems too often to be "echo chamber" sentiments which I could've just as easily gotten from going ahead and accepting what any of these "new outlets" are telling me.

Said differently, for this Silver Blogger, it seems independent, critical thinking is hard to find. Simply due to it being on the decline?

Uh oh, I feel another whole series of posts coming on.

I better go back outside! 🫡
