Birds from a Waterfront Walk Today

Belted Kingfisher Megaceryle alcyon is the only kingfisher found in our area.
Today I took a walk on the Commencement Bay waterfront along Ruston Way and had the chance to photograph a few species of birds. It was a bit foggy this morning, and distant viewing was poor, but these birds were close enough to see well and photograph.

Female Barrow's Goldeneye Bucephala islandica
The males are the more spectacular of this species but I like the orange bill on the females. This may be a young bird.

Our Pelagic Cormorants Urile pelagicus are coming into their alternate, or breeding plumage now, with the white flank patch and their red facial skin.
Overall a nice morning walk.
Good birding.
