Common chiffchaff on a tree

in Feathered Friends3 years ago

One of the typical bird songs you can often hear in spring when walking through a forest is the "chiff - chaff" - "Zilp-Zalp" and I love to hear it since it is one of the sounds that reminds me of spring and warmer times. In spring when the trees start to bloom then their song is heard over long distances here in the forests. They have a pretty good camouflage color since their feathers are olive-green and their underpart is usually a bit brighter.

This warbler gets its name from its simple distinctive song, a repetitive cheerful chiff-chaff. This song is one of the first avian signs that spring has returned. Like most Old World warblers, this small species likes insects.

We also live like this, but of a different subspecies. And our subspecies has a beautiful song, instead of a boring "chiff - chaff" sound.😀
