Little Ringed Plover at the sandpit

I had another perfect weekend with a lot of birdphotography and birdwatching. Spring now is the perfect time to get some pictures of birds that are in this time of the year not so shy as usual. Now that spring is approaching with big steps more and more bird species will come back to Austria and I am already looking forward to the next weeks when it is also getting warmer and I hopefully have some time to take some more pictures of birds. I also want to make some Macro shots of flowers, insects and all the beautiful things that make spring something special every year. The Little ringed plover has a very good camouflage color when hiding in between the gravel and the sand of the sandpit. Together with the green plants it is possible to get some really nice bokeh. Also the brown colors of the ground covering plants makes a great contrast to the bird.

Whenever I try to make pictures like these I need to lie down on the ground and wait for the birds to gain trust to me so they come a little closer for a nice picture, and I always appreciate when they do so. Since for small birds like these we humans must look like giants. I am always amazed how good the wings of the birds fit in to the normal body shape and when in resting position you cannot make out an individual wing. Since the movements of this birds are kind of predictable It is also easier to get some nice pictures of it.

Cool photos friend! This sandpiper just stands there, it's amazing to me. When I met these birds, they constantly ran without a break.

It was running, stopping for some Seconds and running again.
