Cathy and I went out to the migratory bird sanctuary this morning because we heard there were swans there now.
When we got there we were surprised to find one Trumpeter Swan and one Mute Swan... so almost certainly not a pair.
Here are several shots of the trumpeter made into a gif. I don't know how to tell if this is a male or a female.
Here's a look at the Mute Swan. It was in the same part of the lagoon as the trumpeter swan but it stayed a fair distance away.
It turns out it is possible for trumpeter swans and mute swans to mate so it's not impossible that this is a pair.
In fact, a couple of years ago there was a lone trumpeter swan in the lagoon that was noticed to be spending the entire summer with a large white goose... so who knows?
The other cool thing we saw today was a pair of Canadian Geese with their goslings.
I watched them swimming for a while and then they finally came out of the water.
I wanted to get a little closer to photograph the babies but Mom got a little upset and waved me off! ...and that was the end of my adventures for today.
All these photos were taken today by me, @keitboone with a Fuji X-T4 and 55-200mm lens.
