Mexican Boobies and such!

Marietas Islands National Park and UNESCO site is a refuge to 92 species of birds, including the blue footed booby.

Previously used as military training grounds, Jacques Cousteau was instrumental in getting these volcanic islands protected.

When Jeff and Ella toured there they saw humpbacked whales and visited the Hidden Beach. I will share more of their photos soon!

Snowy Egret

Snowy Egrets spear fish and other small aquatic animals in shallow water

Blue Footed Booby

Among boobies, the bluer your feet are, the more likely it is that a female will find you attractive enough to mate with.

Boobies don’t construct traditional nests and lay their eggs on bare ground and mark their territory with a ring of excrement.

Because the birds are protected, and even boats are not allowed to go close, getting great photos was difficult.

Brown Booby

Brown boobies do build nests from whatever is available including branches, seabird bones, and human debris. It is an important part of attracting a mate.

Frigatebird

Frigatebirds are thieves and steal fish and squid from other seabirds. They take hold of the tail feathers of boobies and shake them violently until they give up their catch.

Black Vultures

Black vultures, also known as Mexican vultures have a black head. Turkey vultures have red heads.
Black Vultures share food with their families and feed their young for months after they’ve fledged.

My family pays attention to what interests I have on Hive and are great at filling our family albums with photos for me to share!

How charming the blue feet must be as an attraction to the others, although the yellow feet are also pretty!

Always good news to hear an area is protected to keep the birds happy to thrive knowing they are safe.

@tipu curate

I came here for the boobies and was not disappointed!

The filter you have on really makes the birds look great and I didn't even notice it til I looked at the cool lines on the rocks.

Love my bird posts on Hive!

Great to have a fellow bird lover stop by! Thanks! ♥️

Oh birds? ;)

Because I know so many bird lovers and photographers here, I am enjoying the return of our birds that much more this spring.

I'm waiting and watching for my favorites to return!

Very nice sea birds. They all probably live on the coast.

These were seen on the Pacific coast in northwest Mexico.

This is really amazing. Such birds are found in our country and they are mainly known in our region as Heron.

I believe they are herons. They just have a couple of names!

I love how your family cares for you and that they are your eyes in places you cannot go to.
Great pictures, the Snowy Egret is my favorite

They are great about sharing their photos with me!

These photographs that you share with us are very beautiful. It is a privilege to be able to know such a beautiful place. You have to protect places like this. Thank you very much for sharing something so beautiful.

Our world is so beautiful! ♥️🌍❤️

What an adorable family you have dear friend @ melinda010100 always taking beautiful shots to expand your beautiful family album. I really appreciate that you let us know these beautiful images

They are so thoughtful, and I am lucky that they are such good photographers, too!

I like how the blue-footed booby actually have blue foot (and also blue beak). This is the first time I hear about (and this is the first time I see) this bird. Beautiful bird.

Aren't they unusual birds? Nature is so amazing.

How nice of them to take photos for you ! 😊

They are the best! Have you found a house? I am excited to hear all about the move!

we were very close to our goal and suddenly no more job and no more house there....I fear I'm gonna stay here a couple of months more 😔 It could be worse, Annecy is a beautiful place, thing is, summer has became super crowded for years now and I can't stand crowd anymore, so I suppose I will spend another summer in my appartment with closed shutters and fans on 😅

Oh no! When things suddenly disappear I guess we have to trust that it was not the right thing for us and that we will have a bigger and better opportunity soon. I will be hoping that is the case for you and picturing you at a lovely place in the countryside.

Thank you my dear 😉 Yes, this is exactly what we think and what everybody tells us 😊👍
Have a wonderful week-end !

Great shots. Those blue legs are so weird but interesting.

Thanks! They are unusual, aren't they?

Brown booby wings were amazing! It looks similar to an eagle when it was spread like that!

There are so many beautiful birds in the world!

We saw brown boobies and frigate birds in the Dry Tortugas. Some of those seabirds have incredible ranges.

And some drink salt water! I had not known that until I was reading this week.

Such a beautiful species. Nature at it's best.

“ My family pays attention to what interests I have on Hive and are great at filling our family albums with photos for me to share!” Our addiction is their addiction hive is life 😉

We have created a good life here in the country of Hive! 💕

Your photography is wonderful and knowledge about boobies is also easily understood. Keep it up.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The Frigatebird is one that I've never heard of, and a bird that I'm sure the boobies would rather not run across. Despite loosing their meal, they probably loose a few tail feathers. It's wonderful to have your family in tune to what interests you have on #hive, making it possible for you to experience their vacations and in turn making it possible for you to share with the rest of us.
