The Bird Fence
Sunny was a stern-faced bird who loved spending his evening time flying over to a neighbourhood to sit on a fence and reflect on his day. Recently, his siblings started teasing him for his rigid attitude and asked him to smile more often or else his face will become permanently stern. Sunny's mother was an understanding stout woman who loved nurturing her children.
" Why are you in such a hurry to finish your supper dear Sunny?" inquired his mum as she placed the insects, fruits and eggs she collected in front of her children for their supper.
Suddenly, Sunny's younger sibling snatched away some of Sunny's share of food.
"Big brother Sunny you are looking a too well fed" teased his younger brother in between bites.
Sunny sighed and decided it was time to fly to the neighbourhood fence he looked forward to every evening. The air was crisp and fragrant with the smell of musky-sweet leaf piles laying on the ground. Sunny headed over to a fence and sat there looking at the sky when he suddenly heard a clicking sound of what appeared to be a camera. It was the couple who lived there.
"Honey come over here quickly. It is the same bird which always appear during this time. I took few pictures of it for my art students for next week" the woman exclaimed enthusiastically.
Sunny realized that he had caught the attention of the couple and decided to come back after a few days gap in hopes to lessen the attention he was receiving.
Few days later, Sunny decided to fly over the neighbourhood when he suddenly saw an immobile bird sitting on the fence. Sunny flew closer to the fence and realized that the tips of the fence poles were now shaped like a bird. He had never seen them here before. Sunny looked away from the bird shaped fence and pondered to himself.
"Perhaps this is the wrong neighbourhood…but I have flown by here so many times. The couple living here must have added these birds to the tips of the fence" wondered Sunny to himself.
Sunny was about to take off when he heard the couple chatting indoors when he suddenly saw an outline of a woman behind the curtains.
The woman looked at her husband with a curved smile "My art class decided to make these fence shaped birds which are a look-alike of that stern and stout bird which comes over every evening."
Sunny sighed and muttered under his breath "I suppose I should smile more often."

Stern or not the woman still loved him enough to have her art class make replicas of Sunny for her fence. Poor shy Sunny, Maybe his siblings bully him too much.
