Hello Feathered Friends Lovers,
The spring is here. Still cold but the sun brings hope and the birds are busy from dawn constantly searching for food, building nests or renovating the old ones, looking for partners, everyone with its own agenda. So let's see what I have captured with my camera.
Goldcrest
This time I did not only see but hear the beautiful bird singing. It is not easy to find the goldcrest. It is there, among the conifers, hiding so well. Did I mention it is the smallest bird in Europe? It is only 8.5–9.5 cm in lenght and weighs between 4,5 and 7 g. The name comes from the yellow or orange crest featheres. Yellow for female, orange for male. In my case I got female bird. It belongs to the kinglet family. How sweet is that to call this bird a kinglet.🙂
It is hard to photograph bird so small and above all so fast and agile. There you are, you feather ball.
And off you go.
Shame my first photos are underexposed and after I edit them a bit they did not look very nice to my liking. But here you can see them. The goldcrest was posing for seconds.

The goldcrest can be seen in our park only in winter. Soon it will be gone, other birds will arrive when the spring will be in full swing. I suspect this birdie will not go very far, but who knows. It may stay in the park to my delight. Of what I read, it prefers the mountains. And during the last couple of years, I did not spot the little fella in summer.
And that's all for today.
Happy birding!
Some of my photos can be found in Birds of Bulgaria Facebook group.

Such a tiny thing, no wonder it's hard to spot.
It sounds like we are getting the same weather, still cold but warming during the sunny days. We are also experiencing a lot of bird activity. Within the last week the Robins have made their way back to town. It seems that they are doing some sort of ritual dance as they get ready to lay their eggs. We have spotted several pairs of Robins that jump off the ground a foot or so and then seem to be bumping chests. Very cool to watch. Others are flying off with nesting material.
It must be very entertaining watching the robins. 🙂
I watched magpies carrying sticks and renovating the old nests. And starlings checking the holes made by the woodpeckers.
I am expecting more bird activity over here.
Talking about nests, I need to hang the Lincoln bedroom bird house that I made last year. I hope that a happy pair of birds move in.
That masterpiece, I could not forget it. 🙂
Oh, me too, hope to see the happy couple.
Nice shorts 😍
Thank you kindly.
Oh, how great that you managed to take a photo of these little ones! How many microseconds did this bird sit still?😁
Indeed, it is not a second but microseconds, this bird is so fast and hardly I can see it at one place. 😀
I was lucky again.Thank you so much @ratel!
Spring is the best time to see birds, they are in the midst of many preparations; What a beautiful specimen, and what beautiful shots you have achieved; I appreciate that you made us aware of its existence
