Hello there,
I hope, those who celebrated Christmas had wonderful time surrounded by the love ones. The holiday season is not over and we expect the New Year to bring more positive vibes. I wish with all my heart things to get better and all of you to be healthy.
Long waited holiday, what a pleasure to do things I like in my leisure time. I only wish the weather to be a bit more sunny. It is not quite winterly as the temperatures rises up to 12°C, which gives me more time to spend outside and chase the birds with the camera.
However, I will get back and today I will put images of the green woodpecker I did earlier this month.
To start with this one.
The greeny, as we used to call him, appeared almost every day on different places. Sometimes we see him flying and having no chance to make a photo. I am too slow and besides it will be pointless to attempt to shoot. But when the bird is so close, doing his business and obviously does not mind me clicking, then I end up with series of photos to choose from.
Here, the woody was on the other side of the fence, that is why there is a shade of it on the right side of the image. Actually it is the kindergarten and not advisable to hang out there, so I could only point the camera through the fence bars.
To my delight the bird decided to move on and to land on the tree on the other side of the road in the park.
The green woodpeckers prefer ants and this is why we can see them so often on the ground. So, our friend decided to come close and I had better view now. Basically it was some meters away.
Not very often the bird will look at me or above my head.
And back to wotk, or better to say back to munch.
And there we go.
Another glance at the intruder aka the photographer.
And dig again.
He raised his head (this woodpecker is male) to look at me again with open beak.
Silently a cat was making its way and I have to warn the woody, who may not see it. So, that was the end of the photo session. The woody has gone to the cat's disappointment.
That's all for today, more bird photos will follow next days.
Happy birding!
And happy holidays!

What a beautiful bird @nelinoeva The only woodpecker we've had (on occasion) here is the usual orange one with the bright comb. Greeny is the perfect name! How magnificent he is with the red and green contrast
This is a very beautiful woody and one of the three species living in our park.Thank you @buckaroobaby 🙂
Very attractive woodpecker obviously likes the clicking sound of a camera, trusting to a point where you have him almost eating right next to you.
Have a wonderful break and happy holidays Neli.

Very Christmas look in green feathers.
Clever since if people move they notice insects moving and find food quicker possibly.
Have a fabulous one as well.

👍Cool photos! The woodpecker is very beautiful, and for some reason this mask on his face reminds me of a bandit or a raccoon😀
Haha, he looks like a bandit. 😀Thank you @ratel.
Your pictures are fabulous, I especially like the one of him on the side of the tree. The contrast between his colorful body and the gray of the tree and background is a great shot.
This is very attractive bird and I miss it already as I haven't seen it during the last couple of days.Thank you @thebigsweed for your nice comment.
