I always consider myself as a lucky person. When it comes to find birds, I am also very lucky. Just to be on the right place at the right time. I know how it sounds as a cliche, but it is true. One day I left the office few minutes earlier. And this was the right time. First I heard a bird singing. It was on the roof of the warehouse and all the shots turned to be blurred. Nothing to show. Next I saw with the corner of my eye some flapping wings coming towards and a beautiful raptor started to hover pretty low. I am not good of recognizing the raptors when they are flying and this one was completely stranger.
Again thanks to google lens app I found out that this actually is a new bird for me - the black kite.
I was surprised to read that the black kite is vulnerable species in my country and rare to see. Well, lucky me then. There is another kite - the red kite. I wish I can see it too.
I thought I would have nice images, being so close, but alas, not as I wished to be.
Even though I am willing to show them, because this bird is really gorgeous.
I know that when cropping I loose from the quality. Also, my lens is not as good. It seems that the blueish otline is caused by either the lens or something else. Not sure how to avoid it, if it is avoidable after all.
Here is a photo as it is shot.
And another one.

And one last shot of the kite with a swift. The raptor kept on swirling and getting up and up. What an amazing encounter it was. I hope I will see it again and I will keep my eyes peeled. You never know what you can see.

A great sighting! And great photos!
Thank you Melinda. It was really a lucky encounter.
Great shots. Literally half an hour ago, I was standing at the window and saw one black kite flying over the yard, he saw a pigeon crushed by a car. He swiftly descended and grabbed the corpse.
Wow. They are gorgeous birds, the kites.
I wonder if I will be fortunate enough to see it again and to make better photos.

Luck is such a good thing to have on your side. The other thing that allows pictures like this to be captured is to not be going around in such a rush that you are unaware of all of the things that are happening as we go through the day.
Fabulous pictures, even if you feel that some of the quality of the picture was lost in the editing of the photo.
Seeing a species of bird for the very first time gets the heart pumping a little faster.
Thank you very much for your kind comment.
You are right about the rush. My mates at work wonder how I see these birds. They jyst do not look and they are always in a hurry.
