Today is a nice sunny day. It doesn't happen often lately. The sky is constantly covered with clouds and snow is falling. I do not want to leave the house. But today I decided to go to a distant forest. There are many thickets of bushes and stalks of burdock on the edge. Often at this place you can meet various birds.
Approaching the edge of the forest, I saw from afar a flock of tits that were jumping along the branches of bushes. Coming closer, I noticed several bullfinches. They gathered food for themselves on the ground. Apparently, the burdock seeds crumbled and the bullfinches began to collect them from the ground. So they were even more comfortable. It was not necessary to hang on the bushes to get seeds from dried burdock flowers
Looking closer, I saw that there really were a lot of burdock seeds on the ground. Apparently the wind and snow broke the tops of the bushes and the seeds fell to the ground. To my great regret, due to the dense thickets of burdock, I did not manage to get closer to them. Therefore, I had to watch the bullfinches from a long distance.
After taking a few photos, I decided to get closer to the bullfinches. Among the burdock bushes, I saw a small clearing and moved along it towards the bullfinches. Unfortunately, the snow crunched heavily underfoot. I tried to move as slowly as possible. But I didn't succeed.
Bullfinches immediately noticed that I was walking in their direction. They immediately considered that I was a danger to them and flew up onto a tree branch. There they waited for me to leave. They apparently did not want to fly away from this place where there was a lot of food.
I also decided not to wait long and stand still. Perhaps the bullfinches will calm down and again fly to the ground. I stood for about 10 minutes. But the bullfinches stubbornly sat on a tree branch and constantly looked at me. Apparently they told me in a way that I should leave and not interfere with them collecting food.
After waiting a little longer, I decided to move away, and then went to another edge in the hope of finding other birds there.
It is good that the weather was good and I hoped that on the other edge I would certainly meet new birds.
Some really great images!
But maybe cut back a little bit on the exposure…The I think the colors will pop a little bit more
Many thanks. Yes, unfortunately during the shooting there was a very bright sun and snow all around.
If you captured them in raw you may pull back in for example lightroom or something...
Это же щеглы goldfinches, а не снегири bullfinches
Да что-то зашёл ум за разум. Действительно это щеглы. Спасибо.
