Rook selects the best food for himself

I walked towards the forest. At the edge there are several stumps left after the trees were cut down. The stumps are quite wide. About 1.0m in diameter. Various birds can often be found at this place. There are especially many jackdaws and rooks here. The fact is that people often pass by. They always leave food for the birds on these stumps. It's like a kind of feeder.

So I also took pieces of finely chopped cheese with me. When I approached the edge of the forest, I saw that there were several jackdaws and rooks not far from the stump. They were looking for something among the grass on the ground. I went to the stump and emptied the sliced cheese from the bag. When I was pouring, I immediately saw that the birds began to look at me.

As soon as I walked a little away from the stump, the rook and jackdaws immediately flocked to the stump. The rook immediately began to grab the pieces of cheese with his beak. At the same time, he pushed the jackdaws away from the large pieces and stuffed them into his mouth. The jackdaws got only small pieces.

The rook stuffed his mouth full of cheese. He was pleased that he had managed to take away the largest and most delicious pieces of cheese from the jackdaws. Although there were a lot of jackdaws, they could not do anything. The Rook took the best for himself.

He stood on the edge of the stump and tried to swallow everything he grabbed on the stump. But since his mouth was clogged in, he swallowed his food with great difficulty. I thought that the rook from its greed might choke on cheese. But nothing. Slowly he began to eat his prey.

The rook took a long time to eat. Jackdaws did not wait for the rook to eat its food. They together pounced on what was left and soon there was not even a single smallest piece of cheese left on the stump.

After the meal, the contented rook stood on the edge of the stump and looked importantly at the jackdaws gathered on the grass nearby. It was evident that he was very pleased that he had managed to eat these pieces of cheese.
Unfortunately, I had nothing else to treat the birds. But I was still very pleased that I was able to photograph this rook.

So nice! I can see impressions on their faces. 😃

Thanks a lot. I'm glad you liked it.

Надо же, рядом с галочками пасутся, не ругаются.

Бывает иногда и дерутся за еду. Но галки хитрые. Налетают стаей. Пока одна отвлекает, остальные всё по быстрому растаскивают.
