Today was a good day. Finally warmer and the sun came out after a week break. I immediately got up and went to the park. I didn’t go much into its territory, as soon as I heard the birds singing. However, they sat high on the branches of trees.
I decided to go deeper into the park. I knew these places well, and further on there were three small clearings where we could always meet birds. Indeed, having passed not much, I saw a flock of birds in a clearing.
Coming closer to them, I discovered that they were starlings. Great, I thought. Finally they arrived. I remember as a child in the spring we always prepared for their arrival. In the school workshop we made birdhouses. There was such a rule. Everyone had to make at least one birdhouse.
Then we hung them on trees in the yards of houses. There were two big trees near my house. On each of them I hung one birdhouse. Starlings flew there every year. I don't know if they were the same. But the birdhouses were always busy.
In the mornings when I left the house I always heard them singing. And often they tried to imitate the voices of other birds. My friend specially whistled the same melody to the starlings when he was on the street. Leaving the house after about 10 days, he suddenly heard that the starling was emitting the melody that he was whistling.
But there are a lot of starlings in the park. Unfortunately, there are not enough birdhouses for everyone. Probably starlings will make their own nests on tree branches. In general, it is believed that the arrival of starlings means the arrival of good warm sunny weather. Let's hope that it will be so.
