Somehow he made his way through a small forest overgrown with shrubs and trees. The snow in the forest had not yet melted, so we had to choose drier places. There were no birds to be seen. Therefore, I did not look around, but more at my feet so as not to fall into a puddle.
At one point I lifted my head and looked up. A jay sat on a branch right in front of me and looked at me with curiosity. Surprised, I immediately stopped. It's good that I had a camera in my hands. The jay didn't fly away. They are usually very shy and difficult to approach.
Apparently the jay decided that in the forest I pose no danger to her. She even calmly moved along the branch without paying attention to me. Maybe it was a young specimen that was not so shy. I used to photograph jays, but most of all it happened in open places. I always liked that jays are good at imitating the voices of different birds. Therefore, sometimes it was difficult to understand what kind of birds were sitting on the branches if they were not visible.
It's good that the jays don't fly away for the winter. In winter, they try to stay closer to the city. Even sometimes they can be seen in the city park. They fly to bird feeders, which are quite numerous in the park in winter. People walking past along the paths often put bird food in these feeders.
Jays fly to the feeder to eat a little along with the rest of the birds. Of course it's good that they have such an opportunity.
Jay did not fly away, but continued to sit on a branch. In principle, I was pleased that I managed to see this jay and photograph it.
