I met this wagtail yesterday when I was already returning home from the forest. Although the day was overcast, it was quiet and not very cold. This year I met a wagtail for the first time. Apparently they have already begun to slowly fly in. In these places, wagtails appear very often. It happens that the same individuals can be found throughout the summer period in the same place.
It even seems to me that some wagtails always fly to the same place for several years in a row. Maybe I'm wrong. But they are very similar to those that I saw let's say last year and earlier. Even their habits of being always in a certain place are similar. And often when I walk along the path I know where I will see wagtails.
This wagtail was next to wild ducks, which are very numerous on the river in this place. People walking along the path often bring food to the ducks. So not much food goes to wagtails. They live very peacefully with ducks. No one offends each other. In general, they are very peaceful birds. I have never seen wagtails quarrel among themselves or with other birds.
This wagtail was looking for almost near the very edge of the water. She jumped from one branch to another and carefully examined something on the ground. Seeing that I approached her, she raised her head and did not fly away. On the contrary, she began to slowly approach me. Apparently waiting for food. The ducks that were nearby also began to come closer.
I didn't have a lot of seeds and bread with me. I took it out and began to crumble the ducks. Then he took small pieces and began to carefully throw them to the wagtail. She apparently was hungry. She grabbed a piece of bread and began to peck at it. The ducks also ate their bread quickly.
I was glad that I was able to feed these birds. They ate this food with pleasure and did not fly away. Of course, it is still not very warm and it is difficult for the birds to find food for themselves. Therefore, helping birds in this not very warm time is always a pleasure.
Moreover, I managed to take pictures of this little wagtail. I hope it gets warmer soon and it will be more comfortable for her to be in this forest. I will always try to feed her if I see her again in this place.
На Кипре тоже есть эти птички, они такие милые!
И очень смешно бегают :-)
interesting this brave lil bird 😃 although it is something to take into consideration how animals in the metropolis have somehow learned to adapt and in a way depend on humans for food, thank you for sharing your pics about this! 😊
