Hello feathered friends.
Again I'll share with you a few photos of spotted birds in the last few days. As in the previous post, I've spotted the usual birds for this place and time of year. With exception of one bird species, I haven't seen so far.
In the future, I will write one post a week with a summary of the birds observed during the walks. If I come across a new species or something interesting, I will single it out in a special post.
So let's start with the most common and numerous birds in my area.
Sparrows
During the summer, I mostly saw house sparrows, while with the cold, tree sparrows are easier to spot in the vicinity and in settlements.
There is a difference between these two types.
In the case of the house sparrow, there is a clear difference between the male and the female, while in the case of the field sparrow it is less pronounced, ie both the male and the female have a very similar appearance.

Rooks
The rooks are the most common and numerous birds in the winter. They are mainly found in large flocks covering the clouds while flying or covering trees while resting.
It is a rare occasion to see a lonely rook flying like this one.
Most of the time you can observe scenes like these.
Magpies
The magpies are present throughout the whole year. Mostly alone or in a group of three birds sitting on the top of the tree observing situation around them,
At the slightest sign of danger, they fly to safety.
Pigeons and doves
The pigeons during the winter are commonly seen on the top of buildings snuggled.
The Eurasian collared doves are mostly resting on powerlines. If scared they just move a hundred meters away on the same powerline.
Great gray heron
The great gray heron is still around the lake. I thought that it is the only great heron in this area but I found more around irrigation canals accompanying the great white heron.
Long-eared owls
Owls will be the birds of my great interest during the winter months. I will spend a lot of time observing their behavior and monitoring the numbers. In the coming period, you will see a lot of photos of these birds.
Common kestrel
It is a bird of prey commonly seen in flight or hovering in the air in a search for prey.
For the end of this post, I'll share one passerine bird I haven't seen so far. I am not sure about the identification so I'll ask for help. It looks to me like it belongs to a wren family but I might be wrong. What I can see is that it looks really angry.
Thank you for stopping by and supporting my content!
The last bird is Phoenicurus ochruros
Thank you very much! It's appreciated!
Cheer.

And again this cute owl!😊 Does she seem to live there permanently?
Only during the winter. :)
Thanks a lot for the support! ♥️
I am jealous about the owl. ☺ This is a bird I wish to see and crave to photograph.
Did you see the new contest I am hosting on Feathered Friends - Show me a photo?
Would you like to help me as a judge?
I'm just lucky to have them choose the area where I live for winter roosting. Yes, I've seen the contest and I was planning to make a post soon. I'll pass the contest and help you with judging. Thank you very much for considering me.
You can make your post if you have plans and to help me with the next rounds. My intention is to have this contest on weekly basis.
Find me on Discord and I can explain more in detail. I am @neli#2479 there.
I assumed that it will be a weekly contest. That's fine for me. I've sent you a friend request in discord.
