Another fun theme on this week's Show Me A Photo challenge: My Best Bird Photo!
And honestly... I couldn't make up my mind! I do remembered immediatly some of my favourite ones, but some of them I love not so much because of the perfect photo, but because of the situation. Probably most (if not all) of the photos here I have already published, but a round up it is. And starting with probably my favourite one:
This day started really early, with a safari at sunrise in Udawalawe national park, in Sri Lanka. A couple km after entering the park, this beauty was perched, wings tucked. And as I was admiring her and taking photos after photos, she decided to change position and...
... this happened! Spreaded wings captured on camera, a few dozen meters away! Not only one of my favourites, but one of my luckiest too.
Speaking of luck, this next one proved me you don't need an awesome camera to snap cool photos.
In Madeira island, these chaffinches are so used to tourists that they almost come and eat from your hand. Since they allow such proximity, I was grabbing muy smartphone to take a photo, when these two decided to go Bruce Lee mode! I only realised what I had captured later, while browsing the photos! Here's another one of these beautiful birds:
The next two to hit the podium were taken just a couple hours apart, during a day hike near Balaton lake, Hungary. I was going up a short climb and when I reached a belvedere, there she was, hovering in mid-air:
She was almost at eye level, and glided gracefully a few times, only to stop again and check the terrain for prey, remaining almost completely still. Almost lost track of time admiring the show, but eventually continued my trip until I reached a small lake. And to make the golden hour even more beautiful...
... a couple of mute swans were strolling through the lake, enjoying a meal here and there.
To wrap it up, one that is not by far one of my best photos, but one I really enjoyed. It was my first time in Malaysia, and had just reached the outskirts of Taman Negara national park, and incredible location to anyone that likes nature.
A huge bird caught my eye as he landed on a nearby tree. And fortunately, was able to catch it on camera.
Hornbills are one of my favourite bird families... and this was the first one I ever saw!
Very curious to see what kind of birds will the rest of the community post.

Indeed, each photo is precious because of the its story. You have awesome images, but the entry photo is really showing the beauty of the raptor in full scale.
