Birdwatcher's Log : 01.05.22

Every year at the beginning of May I go to the neighboring region to visit my relatives. Outside the city there are the so-called "Baraba steppes" in the form of flooded meadows.

Even before reaching the place where I go to watch birds, I met a lot of these gulls. Baraba Steppe Gull
It is worth saying that these seagulls are not quite wild in those places. They fly freely around the city, along with jackdaws and rooks, dig in dustbins.

But this is the same meadow where I go every year.

Going down to the water in the thickets of reeds, I saw The common reed bunting. And it was very difficult to get her to sit on a bush in order to take a good photo of her.

Mallard ducks were expected to be in the water. They are very shy in those places, as they are hunted.

Occasionally there are black-headed gulls. Which, by the way, can be found in the city, in the same garbage dumps.

And again this seagull. Still, there are many more of them in these places, and they like to be in a flock.

Well, bluethroat is a permanent resident of these places. If, for example, azure tit, remez, marsh harrier, used to meet and now they don’t, then bluethroat is always here. They sit in the bushes and sing songs.

I saw a gray heron here for the first time. And of course, only in flight. I have no luck with herons.

Another permanent resident is the citrine wagtail. They are in the thickets of reeds, then they walk on the grass.

So many beautiful birds! I've always wanted to visit Siberia.

Alas, in this place there are fewer and fewer birds every year.

Very nice pictures😍

thanks!

Enjoy your annual visit. I enjoyed reading about the area's birds.
