🦉 The common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus)

  • Carpodacus Greek: karpos fruit, daknō to bite
  • erythrinus erythros (Greek, lat.) red

This bird is also called the "red sparrow", and yes, there are some similar properties with sparrows. These birds arrive late, around mid-May, and this is due to their very strange migration routes. They first fly far to the east and then return back.

The bird is almost completely herbivorous, only occasionally adding insects to its diet. Grass seeds, nuts, leaves, buds, flowers are the main diet.
They prefer to live in places with dense bushes. I always meet them near the shore where the bushes grow.

They look so cute, especially the one with a touch of red. I don't really know much about birds though.
