🦉 The brambling (Fringilla montifringilla)

  • Fringilla (lat.) Finch; fi nco (old German)
  • montifringilla lat .: mōns, montis mountain, mountain range

Outwardly, these birds are similar to chaffinches, especially females, they differ in colors. In some encyclopedias it is written that their behavior is similar, after all, birds are of the same genus. However, I have a completely different opinion. I have repeatedly seen male chaffinches attack male bramblings when they flew into their territory. These birds have never done this in my memory.

They fly to urban forests in early April and spend the mating season here. But then they seem to disappear, and only chaffinches remain in the forest. But you can find them in large quantities in coniferous forests.
