🦉 The black kite (Milvus migrans)
- Milvus (lat) - kite
- migrans (lat.) - migrating
These birds are among the first to return from wintering grounds, in the so-called first wave. And this happens, of course, depending on the weather, as a rule, on April 2-4, I already see them in the forests near the city and on the outskirts.
During the mating season, the male and female fly together, and the male tries to be as close as possible to the female during the flight, showing her his agility. When building a nest, birds use various decorations from garbage, such as bags. This denotes their high rank, like stars on uniform.
In photos 1 and 2 you can see how ugly the plumage of this kite looks. Torn wings and tail. This is the result of an attack by small birds that were defending their territories. As a rule, kites are most often attacked by thrushes and magpies with crows.
