πŸ¦‰ The Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), also known as the northern sparrowhawk

  • Accipiter accipere (lat.) to grab
  • nisus according to ancient Greek mythology Nisus (or Nisus), king of Megara, and his Skill's daughter, who betrayed her father because of her love passion for the enemy - the Cretan King Minos, were turned by the gods into birds of prey

One day in early spring I went into the forest to check which birds had not yet flown away and which ones had arrived from their wintering grounds. That day it was warm and sunny, and the snow, of which there was still a lot, was melting. Having reached the forest, I saw a typical mixed bird flock of various tits, long-tailed tits, nuthatches and woodpeckers.

And suddenly the great tits began to make high-pitched, needle-like squeaks, and the long-tailed tits, in panic, made sounds similar to alarms.
And I know that this is a signal indicating an air raid warning, an airborne predator. I started looking around, and the birds were hiding in the trees. And then this predator flew past. And it’s not for nothing that the small birds hid, because they are his food.
