🦉 The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)
- Saxicola (lat ): saxum rock, stone, -cola inhabitant
- maurus (lat.): Moorish, black
These inhabitants of open spaces arrive in my region around the 10th of May. In the neighboring steppe region I met them at the end of April.
As I have already said, these birds inhabit open spaces, these can be meadows, clearings near forests. A very large number of these birds live in a meadow near the city, on the very outskirts. And also one family is always in the forest, but not in the forest itself, but next to it in a small field.
These birds love to climb to the top of a plant or a small bush and watch their territory from there. For example, during the mating season, the female is engaged in building the nest, and the male, meanwhile, sits somewhere on a thistle flower and watches for dangers and other birds that fly into his territory.
