🦉 The common whitethroat or greater whitethroat (Curruca communis)
- Curruca is an unidentified bird name mentioned in the poems of the ancient Roman poet Juvenal
- communis (lat.) ordinary, common.
These birds appear in the vicinity of my city around the beginning of May, when the weather is already consistently warm and they have something to eat. Males search for and occupy territories and begin to sing while sitting on branches. The bird is essentially a bush bird and does not even appear on trees.
If you approach the male when he sings, instead of a song you can hear a dissatisfied hoarse growl, which means danger. Therefore, you need to take a couple of steps back so that the bird calms down and continues singing the song.
