These stylish, graceful birds are among the first to arrive in the spring, before the snow has even melted.
These stylish, graceful birds are among the first to arrive in the spring, before the snow has even melted. And I've always wondered what they eat at this time of year, since there are practically no insects. Yes, like most insectivores, they add berries and seeds to their diet. But where can you find plant seeds in the city?

Yes, this species of wagtails gravitates towards human dwellings, they build nests in attics, various crevices of houses, ventilation, elevators, etc. But there are also forest dwellers who nest in the wild, in forests, along river banks and meadows.
They fly away for the winter late, especially those who live in the city. According to my observations, the latest wagtail I saw was in mid-October.
