🦉 The grey heron (Ardea cinerea)
- Ardea (lat.) heron
- cinerea lat.: cineris ash, cinereus, cineraceus ash gray
I rarely meet these birds, and I have never been able to get close to them. As a rule, I see them in the spring or autumn, in the distance on the banks of a river or lake near a river. But that day I was lucky enough to meet several herons near the bank in a bushy area almost flooded by the river.
Because of the high thickets and bushes the birds did not see me from afar, so our meeting was unexpected when I approached the place where they were resting. These were adult birds and young ones. Having seen me they expectedly flew away.
