🦉 The Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)
- Bombycilla bombux (Greek) silk, cilla (Latin) tail
- garrulus lat .: garrire to chatter, babble, chirp, garrulus chatty, chirping, noisy; ax prone to

These cute birds with a funny crest on their heads fly into the forests of my city in late autumn, when the weather is already cool and winter is approaching. They fly in a large, noisy flock from one tree to another.

Most often they can be seen on berry trees, especially on rowan. They raid these trees and eat the berries whole. There is a misconception that waxwings roll around drunk in the snow after eating fermented berries. This is not true. Yes, they can fall and roll around in the snow, but not from drunkenness but from hypothermia. After some time, they come to their senses and fly away.
