🦉 The song thrush (Turdus philomelos)
- Turdus (lat) - Thrush
- philomelos - Greek: phileo to love, melos song; philomela nightingale. According to ancient Greek mythology Philomela - the daughter of Pandion the First, king of Athens, was raped by Tereus, the husband of her sister Procne (or Progne), who, to hide the crime, tore out her tongue. Zeus, out of compassion, turned Philomela into a nightingale and Procne into a swallow. Pandion died of grief after learning about the tragedy in his family, and Zeus turned him into an osprey.

I rarely manage to photograph this type of thrush, because they are very shy, unlike other thrushes. They appear in the forests of my city at the end of April, which again distinguishes them from other thrushes, which appear at the very beginning of spring. Song thrushes are migratory.

But of course its most important difference is its singing. The song of the fieldfare and redwing consists of various chaotic fast sounds, crackles, etc. And the song of the song thrush is very beautiful, melancholic and melodic.
