🦉 The wood sandpiper (Tringa glareola)

  • Tringa tryngas (Greek) thrush-sized water bird in Aristotle's texts
  • glareola lat.: glarea - pebbles, glareola reduce. by glarea

There is a coastal area near the river where a large number of bushes grow, in spring this area is flooded, but by mid-July the water recedes, but due to the unevenness of the landscape a lake is formed there. Ducks and various sandpipers like to rest on this lake.

These birds are usually there in groups of 4-5. They walk in shallow water and catch small aquatic insects, mollusks or small fish.
