- Bombycilla bombux (Greek) silk, cilla (Latin) tail
- garrulus lat .: garrire to chatter, babble, chirp, garrulus chatty, chirping, noisy; ax prone to

In winter, these birds are very noticeable. After all, they raid rowan trees in huge flocks to feast on their berries. Unlike, for example, bullfinches, they swallow the berries whole, along with the seeds and pulp. However, in winter, the berries often become frozen and the birds eat them, get frostbite and fall down under the tree. Many people mistakenly believe that this is because the berries supposedly fermented and the birds got drunk, but this is not true.

At this time, these birds are already flying back en masse to the taiga forests and to the north, to their home. And they can still be found in flocks until the beginning of May.
And it is very rare to see these birds on the ground (see the first photo).

They are such beautiful birds. I had a small flock of Cedar waxwings in the yard briefly a couple weeks ago. They were eating the berries off a Juniper.
Yep! Cedar Waxwings are also cute
What a unique and beautiful bird! I love its gaze and the puma-like crest on its head.
I didn't know all this information. It's a shame some birds die from freezing to death when they eat frozen birds.
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photographs and the research about it, dear friend @ratel.
thanks!
