🦉 🦉 The little bunting (Emberiza pusilla)

  • Emberiza embritz (Old German) bunting
  • pusilla pusillus (lat.) very small, tiny

This species of bunting is really small. We call this bird "bunting-crumb". Indeed, she is one of the smallest of her family. This little one prefers to stay in the bushes all the time, which makes it very inconvenient for photographing and studying. She has a quiet voice, barely noticeable calls, which makes her even more invisible.

They arrive at the beginning of May, which is quite late for birds of this family. But they also fly away later than others, there were cases when I met them on the coast along the river at the end of October, in cold weather.
