🦉 The European robin (Erithacus rubecula)
📚 Erithacus erithakos (Greek) unidentified small bird in
the works of ancient authors; erythros (Greek, lat.) red
📚 rubecula ruber (lat.) red, reddish, rubeculus diminished. by ruber
This bird lives in dense mixed forests, and I have repeatedly seen it near bushes. As well as this male. Initially, he was in the bushes, but I lured him out with a sound, and he flew to me and began to sing a song, thereby defending his territory.
These birds feed on insects, invertebrates, and berries.
Interestingly, if bird is injured or weak, or for some other reason, the bird can stay for the winter. Such cases happen, for example, in the European part of Russia. And then this bird is forced to survive on food that is not peculiar to her, such as seeds, chopped nuts, and even pieces of bread.
Here is an example of such an event on the channel of Vasily Vishnevsky
Beautiful photos of this robin.
