I apologize for the sound, I forgot to edit and remove the noise.
I met these stylish big woodpeckers at the very beginning of winter, that is, at the end of October. It was already cold and snowing.
A pair of these birds, a male (on the first photo) and a female. They scanned the trees for insects hiding there.
This species differs from other woodpeckers in that they are great hard workers, and always thoroughly examine the trees and sit on them for a long time.
The male was on one tree and was hiding from me. And the female did not pay attention to me, therefore, in addition to the photo, I managed to make a video.
The female pecked at the tree for a long time and I was already very cold. And then she flew to another tree and began to eat berries! (second half of the video) For the first time I see these woodpeckers eating berries.
