π¦ The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)
π Dryocopus (Greek): drys, dendron - tree; kopos, koptΕ - hit
π martius (lat.) : warlike, fighting; March

Last month I posted a video about this woodpecker. And now it's the turn of these photos.
Then for the first time I saw how this woodpecker eats berries. Yes, I have seen this before, from smaller woodpeckers, and now I know for sure that this type of woodpecker is not averse to tasting berries.

Mostly, these woodpeckers feed on insects, namely those that live in the bark of trees, as well as large ants. And only with the advent of cold weather, in autumn, like other wintering sedentary birds, they can add plant foods to their diet.

I have this bird also here, but it is very hard to get it in photo π€π πππ·
Yes? It is very strange. But everything is possible. I notice that the behavior of birds in different regions can be completely different. In our region, woodpeckers are accustomed to people. And at my friend in the region they are very cowardly.
Here I have big forest ... so they not see lot times people, and if they see they fast run :))
Wow, you managed to make such a nice captures! I like his "clever-attentive" impression on the face: "I've got a nice harvest, tho it was not easy" -- so cool.
Thanks for appreciating.π
