πŸ¦‰ The Eurasian three-toed woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus)

πŸ“š Picoides picus (lat.) woodpecker, -oides similar
πŸ“š tridactylus tridaktylos (Greek) three-toed

I have never met these woodpeckers in spring and summer. But with the advent of autumn, around the end of September, I can already see them in my forests.

And in most cases, these woodpeckers are not alone, but are either in pairs, or even in a mixed bird flock consisting of different species of sedentary birds.

What surprises me, and at the same time is their special feature, is that they are not shy, and you can approach them closely, of course, within reasonable distances. And also that these woodpeckers above 3 meters do not inspect trees, it's strange.
