The house sparrows are all over the place here, though they are common if you take enough photos of them you can catch some interesting action. Perhaps a good new year's resolution for me will be to give them a bit more attention on my camera. Here are a few of the usual suspects from last year for this #featheredfriday by @melinda010100
Here's the moody artistic sparrow contemplating deep philosophical thoughts, like how to fill a gutter just right so that the rain water will stop from flowing and keep the nest dry...
If there's one thing more common than sparrows around here its the Canadian geese. They are all quite tame and I can just walk up and get funny looking shots like this.
The mallards are second most common. They are always mucking about in the algae areas looking for snails. I wonder how bad the nematodes are in this lake... Fortunately swimming is not allowed here as its technically a reservoir and not a lake that's loaded full of algae.
Here's a usual sight that always has good poses. These guys are brazen and will try and attack you so its easy to just stand there and anger them until they land for a photo.
The female redwings are less aggressive until they have a baby nearby then they will attack. The males always attack no matter if there are babies around or not.
This past year was good for sighting the black crowned night heron. I think it might have just been the same one that kept visiting the lake as it is full of tiny bluegill to eat.
Last year was good for raptor sightings. I even got to see some baby redtails that just emerged from their nests above the lacrosse field. They sat on the net all day learning how to fly.
Now for a rare sighting of a barred owl in the daytime. Sadly this one was being really shy and I could only get a glimpse of it behind the leaves. They are mostly out in the dark and I rarely see them when there is enough light out for a photo.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
You caught a sparrow very cool on rise!
Very common little birds but they can show some promising action if you take enough pictures of them.
sparrows
These all photos awesome .
Thanks for looking :-)
Happy #featheredfriday 🙂 All the action here is at the bird feeders. Nuthatch, titmouse, goldfinch, junco, cardinals, and assorted woodpeckers.
I wish I could have a feeder setup, maybe once I get out of this condo and get a house with a yard I'll set one up.
Wow, all the pictures that you show are very extraordinary.
I was lucky to have found so many good photo subjects last year.
The title actually fit well, particularly that sneaky sparrow and the Canadian folk😂 How did you even come up with the name😆
Nice cute captures as always.
I was remembering that 90s era movie called the usual suspects for all the birds I see whenever I go out looking for rare birds lol.
Of course I remember that fabulous film! Which is why I laughed so hard while trying to relate here 😆
Yay! 🤗

Some friendly not too shy, another angry enough to do a fly-by, gorgeous birds each one unique.
I like the angry ones, they make such good poses.
Angry ones chase the dogs, don't know how to react to them always a laugh. Yup some good photography options with them!
Always love viewing the birds you capture on film with many action pictures.
I just saw my very first owl. As you state, they usually only come out at night but once in a while, we are lucky enough to spot on during daylight.
Yeah its very rare to see one during the day. Other birds tipped me off to this one's location as they were doing alarm calls and dive bombing the owl to try and scare it away from the area.
